Bus Stop Warmth

If you recall, I said in this post here, that the Small Person had put in a request for something crocheted.
The Small Person catches the school bus from our village to school, we have to be at the bus stop for 8am, and the bus stop is located on the corner of our road, so not far, but it can be so cold! That corner seems to catch all of the wind. There is no bus shelter on our side of the road.

So the request was for a set of leg warmers to wear when she's waiting for the bus. They are finished. They have been finished for several weeks, but in true Wishes household style, we're slow to report any developments :)

They are just simple ribbed crochet (double crochet but only working through the back loop) with the tops turned down and held in place by a wooden button. I use grey acrylic DK (nice and inexpensive) to match her uniform. I'm not a huge fan of making ribbed crochet. I love the effect, but find it fiddlier than usual because of working through the back loop. In reality, this is such a quick project that it could easily be completed in an afternoon, but in the Wishes house, quick and simple still means at least a few weeks turn-around! A few rows have been slotted in here and there around course reading, housework, toddler chasing, dance lesson trips, swimming lesson trips and cooking.

I had some yarn left over, so I made a matching ear-warmer thingy (so elegantly named, dontcha think?).

So she has been stood at the bus stop in the mornings nice and warm (well, warmer). The first morning she wore them she said "When will you make me a Mary Poppins costume, because I really just need one sooooo much? Please, please, please, please, pleeeease!" *sigh*
