Today there is no movie because we left the Smaller Person with a babysitter (My Mum) whilst we took the Small Person to a dance showcase performed by the older children from Alexandra's dance school. They really put on a lovely show, and the Small Person loved joining in the disco part at the end.
What happens if you go to a disco at a dance school? Well, they perform a few improvised routines, scream alot when favourite songs come on, the dancefloor is filled with as many enthusiastic boys as girls, there are random people dotted abot performing some really excellent moves including break dancing and body popping (you know, like it's an every day thing), and they form a ring to do one of those jump-in-the-middle-and-perform-some-cool-move-then-jump-out-again things (see, I'm down with the lingo ;D) which even my 6 year old took part in without any nerves whatsoever, AND, and this is the big bit, AND, you sit at the back of the room, still just about clinging onto your twenties, and feel, for want of a better description, like a MUM.
Mum translated here means: old, untrendy, lacking rythym, embrassasing if you dare leave your seat to join in, and worst of all, sensible!
Still, It was a good show, and the Small Person had fun.
There wasn't going to be an activity today either, but it seems the Small Person had other ideas.
Today's activity is: Which part of your body will you injure if you fall from the top of your loft bed?
That's right, we'd just collected Zacky from my Mum, got home and sent madam to get ready for bed when we heard a big thud and some pained crying/wailing. She has quite a high sleeper, I'm still not sure exactly what happened, but something along the lines of her PJs were on her bed, she went up to get ready, dropped them from the top of the bed, and instead of climbing down to get them, tried to reach them from the top and fell. Her left knee seems to have taken most of the impact. She can bend it and put weight on it, but it's very red, a bit swollen and is making an awful clicking. She also seems to be in quite a bit of pain. So Mr Bogert has taken her to A&E to get checked out.
This is the first time I've never been with one of the kids when the've had to go to hospital, and it's not sitting well with me :( Fingers crossed, all will be well, but for now we'll just have to wait and see. Mr Bogert has sent a message to say that it's very busy. We may all be waiting quite some time...
W also had Alexandra's Year 1 Nativity this morning, but more on that in another post.
Only 16 sleeps 'til Christmas!
